OpenSDL
OpenSDL
Automated scientific discovery for everyone
About Us
Self-driving labs (SDLs) are a promising strategy for automated scientific discovery, but in practice they are wholly dependent on expensive, proprietary systems, and massive set-up efforts.
Open science is better science. OpenSDL is a collaborative group of researchers, lab automation practitioners, community organizers, and hardware manufacturers focused on building capable, practical, truly open approaches to using AI and automation for scientific discovery. AI-ready, open systems will improve the usability, modularity, and reliability of the whole research enterprise.
Together, we build and publicize open-source lab automation orchestrators, drivers, protocols, and architectures. With these tools, anyone can integrate custom-built and off-the-shelf instrumentation into modern AI data systems. This sharing will ultimately democratize automation and modernize scientific practice.
Our tools are a work in progress. To access them or contribute, see our Github links below. To learn more about the projects working together to build OpenSDL, follow the links in our collaborator section.
